Durim Elshani acknowledges infrastructure and staff shortages at QKUK's pediatrics clinic, promises a full transformation next year after a €1.25 million renovation of the basement and kitchen, and notes four nurses are suspended pending investigation.

After numerous reactions and measures taken regarding conditions at the QKUK Pediatrics Clinic, which followed the publication of footage by citizen Aulona Memeti during her child's treatment, Durim Elshani, adviser in the cabinet of acting Health Minister Arben Vitia, responded. In a Facebook post, Elshani tried to justify the state of Pediatrics, stating that the health system inherited many infrastructural problems and that interventions were initially made in the units most in need. Nevertheless, Elshani admitted that in some aspects the response was not intense enough, Klankosova.tv reports.
I'm not talking about others, because your reaction also concerns the framework, the bathroom paper, and I agree that the standard of a health system is not measured only by the investments I mentioned. It's not only measured by how much modern equipment is bought; by how many laws are passed; by how many staff are added; by how many hospitals and polyclinics are built… It's also measured by the cleanliness of a room, the cleanliness of a bed, the cleanliness of a toilet, a soap that is replaced when used up, and the staff's behavior toward patients. In this area we have not had a firm grip.
Elshani added, “For Pediatrics, which rightly has reactions today, as you can see in the photos, the renovation of the basement and kitchen is nearing completion, and next year the full transformation of the entire QKUK Pediatrics Clinic will begin.”
