The Basic Court in Pristina has scheduled the initial hearing for 21 defendants accused of war crimes against civilians, with the trial expected to proceed in absentia.

The Basic Court in Pristina announced that it has scheduled the initial hearing in the criminal case against 21 defendants accused of war crimes against the civilian population.
According to the announcement from the Court's Special Department, the criminal case concerns Zllatomir Peshiq, Mlladen Cirkoviq, Radomir Markoviq, Dushko Adamoviq, Obrad Stevanoviq, Zhivko Trajkoviq, Goran Radosavleviq, Bogolub Janiçqviq, Sllavisha Ivanoviq, Boshko Vukiqeviq, Sreten Popoviq, Nikolla Petroviq, Kërsman Jellliq, Lubisha Stojimiroviq, Bozhidar Deliq, Radojko Stefanoviq, Dragan Zhivanoviq, Milosh Gjoshan, Lubinko Cvetiq, Bozhidar Filiq, Milovan Kovaçeviq, for the criminal act “War Crimes against the civilian population”, the Facebook post states, reports Klankosova.tv.
The Court announced that, according to the proposal of the Special Prosecutor's Office, the trial in this case is expected to be held in absentia, as the defendants have been unreachable up to the moment the indictment was filed.
“According to the proposal of the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo, the trial in this case will be conducted in the absence of the defendants because they have been unreachable up to the moment the indictment was filed. For this reason, through this communication the accused are urged to appear and submit themselves before the investigative bodies of the Republic of Kosovo,” the statement reads.
The court also called on citizens who have relevant information about the whereabouts of the accused to share it with the Kosovo Police or other competent authorities.
“Furthermore, all persons possessing relevant information regarding the location of the accused are urged to communicate this information to the Kosovo Police or other competent bodies. The defendants and the public are informed that the session will be held at the Basic Court in Pristina, Hajvalia Justice Palace, Building D, Floor 1, courtroom 17, on 01.07.2026 at 09:00, presided over by the Chair of the Judicial Panel, Medie Bytyqi. Regarding this criminal case, the indictment and summonses have been published on the court’s website and in the Official Gazette. The Basic Court in Pristina will continue to inform the public about further developments in this criminal case,” the Court said. /Klankosova.tv
